I got into a juried art show! My double-weave ribcage from last semester got in and it's just too awesome.

I am so excited and stressed about it. I've spent so much time these past several days fixing the stupid thing. I had it rolled up in some paper in my closet all summer, and I unrolled it a couple weeks ago to stare at and ended up re-waxing all of the fringe. All 450 4ft ends. I finished nearly 3 this morning... So now I have to make a hanging template for it, paint some nails white, and re-roll the thing carefully so it'll fit in the mailing tube I got. And I need to be done before 2 today so I can take it home and hopefully give it to my dad. and I still need to write the hanging instruction for it.

akdsjfdk this is harder than I thought. But it's good that it's happening, and that I'm learning how this whole gallery thing works before I'm really out in the world. And I'm glad I already knew to add "Please hand remove any bits of lint or other debris from the fringe and carefully hand comb it straight" to the end of the instructions, because some galleries are idiots.

In case you didn't notice on the four sock creatures I just added, I'm selling them on my Etsy shop! Please check it out!

There's only four creatures there right now, because Etsy's listing fee went up from the last time I had a shop, so I won't have very many up there at a time. But either way, all of my creatures are $25 with $5 shipping.

Moneyyyyyyy

unrelated: we are the 99 percent is making me really depressed and worried and stressed and stuff. so I added up my loans for school and I'll have to pay $18K plus interest starting this time next year. /crying

Well, my penultimate semester of college has started, I've survived another hurricane and an earthquake, and I'm on a mission to gain 12 pounds. Fuck yeah!

In other news, I've finally gotten around to taking some pretty good pictures of the sock creatures I have here, all 8 of them, and I've restarted my Etsy shop. There's only one there right now, but I'll be adding to it this week, at which point I'll post a link.

Okay cool.
That's it.

Anyway...

I have 5 projects due over the next 7 weeks. And I'm only prepared for 2 of them.

- 4 cyanotype/blueprint embroidered potholders of skeletons doing things (cooking, showering, playing air guitar on a broom, etc)
- 1 doubleweave rib cage that will end up being about 6'

And then some fiddly thing with radioactive skeletons, and something involving denim, and some other woven thing.

Hard semester is hard.

I've been working out my senior year, as far as taking what classes when. I'm going to suffer another weaving class so I can take senior critique in the spring, and I'll be doing senior seminar in the fall. Plus two other art-related lecture classes, one on green materials and one on communicating effectively about my work. But I'm 26 credits away from graduating! Assuming I don't fail my academics this semester...

Excitement!

I swear, that was the hardest round of finals I think I've done yet. I spent over a week running on about 4 hours of sleep a night. That last night I took about an hour and a half nap between finishing a project and going to the crit for it. In the end, I did well. Still waiting on one last grade for one of my art history classes.

I've got this week off because I was slow about going back to work. Next week I'll be earning money again, which will be awesome. I think it'll even be cash register stuff, instead of boring heavy stocking.

In the meantime, I'm stressing about Christmas and how I've got very little money for presents and such. I only got my dad a tshirt. I'll be baking a lot, helping mother with her usual twenty batches of various cookies.

Oooo, I saw the lunar eclipse last night. I went to bed early and got up at 2:30 to see it. It was super cold and windy, but not a cloud in sight.
